Howlin’ Wolf “Back Door Man”

Although Back Door Man was written by Willie Dixon, he wrote it for the legendary Howlin’ Wolf  who released it in 1961 as a B-side.

In 1967 The Doors recorded the version that most people know today.

Willie Dixon himself recordered a “cover” of his own song in 1970.

"the men don't know, but the little girls understand."

Lyrics:

Argh! Huh!
Whoah, yeah.
Yeah! C'mon! Yeah!
Oh, yeah, I'm a — yeah, I'm a back door man,
I'm a back door man.
The men don't know,
But the little girls understand.
Well, all you people there tryin' to sleep,
I'm out there making it my midnight treat— yeah,
'Cause I'm a back door man.
The men don't know
But the little girls understand.
All right, yeah!
You men eat your dinner,
Eat your pork and beans
I eat more chicken
Any man ever seen — yeah, yeah.
I'm a back door man — wha!
The men don't know
But the little girls understand.
Well, I'm a back door man,
I'm a back door man.
Whoa, baby — I'm a back door man.
The men don't know
But the little girls understand.
